Preparing Young Players for Sport and Life

“I want to make a difference in children’s lives, whether they go on to play at the highest level, or at their own highest level. Children never forget a good teacher and it is my goal to be remembered as one, and never be anyone’s last coach.” - Mesgna

Mesgna Neghasi, Founder of Two Brothers Soccer

Mesgna Neghasi was born and raised in Eritrea, East Africa, and move to the United States at 12 years of age. He played soccer for the first time at age six and found a passion that has grown with time.  His personal story was published in Tam News: The Tam News – Across the Border

Two Brothers Soccer Routes was founded in 2018-2019, in Marin County by CEO Mesgna. Coach Mesgna has a background in Kinesiology and nutrition from Sacramento University, and holds the following Licenses and Certifications:

  • Coaching

  • Sports Exercise

  • Fitness & Gym Instructor

  • Certified Sports

Mesgna has always been an athlete, excelling in both soccer and track and field. He competed in track and field at Division 1, California State University, Sacramento, and also played semi-pro USL 2, as a Physician striker.

As a coach, Mesgna quickly noticed a distinct lack of serious, quality soccer training for young aspiring athletes; there was little vision, planning or development for body or mind. Most “training” treated young athletes like babies, singing songs and playing silly games.

With training and earned certifications, Mesgna has merged his background in Kinesiology with over seven years of coaching. His Development System trains young players ages 5 through 18 years, to be serious competitors in both sport and life. Though often imitated, Two Brothers Soccer is the only place to find his unique method.

Two Brothers Soccer was created to act as the pre and elementary-school developmental years within soccer so that young players could seamlessly transition to club soccer at the end of our programs.

“We believe most programs just don’t educate to a high enough level for players to be anywhere near prepared technically, tactically, and mentally. We help players reach their full potential in all of their future endeavors both on and off the field.” -Mesgna

Our focus is on providing a developmentally appropriate environment for young players to learn the game of soccer. This means that we focus on teaching the technical, mental, and tactical aspects of the game in a way that is appropriate for young players.

One key aspect of Two Brothers Soccer philosophy is that we prioritize learning over winning. We believe that it is more important for players to learn how to play the game correctly and to develop a love for the sport, rather than to focus on the score of each game
